Dr. Todd Barnett is a Southern California native with over two decades of distinguished experience spanning Christian private, parochial, charter, and higher education settings. He has equally embraced his Silver Anniversary and espoused LaShawn Barnett! He is a father of one, Hassan Barnett, who is also a member of 100 Black Men of Long Beach, Inc. and a daughter-in-love, Melanie Hercules-Barnett! He has served as an instructional leader in Spanish, English, and the Humanities, bringing a proven record of pedagogical excellence and curriculum leadership. Dr. Barnett is a carrier and holder of professional and advanced degrees, which include his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from California State University, Dominguez Hills (1998), Ray of Hope Theological Seminary - Masters in Christian Education and Doctor of Divinity (2003/2004), a Masters in Education from Alliant International University (2013), A Masters of Arts in Teaching from University of Southern California (2013), and finally, Doctor of Education (Ed.D) from University of Southern California with a focus on Language Development and Literacy (2017).
Dr. Barnett's professional portfolio further includes roles as a translator, nonprofit Director of Operations, Senior Pastor, consultant, and editor, reflecting both operational and mission-driven leadership. Dr. Barnett holds multiple advanced and terminal degrees, culminating in a Doctor of Education focused on advancing Spanish language proficiency and literacy among African-American students. Dr. Barnett is a recognized grassroots leader, deeply committed to capacity building and empowering individuals and institutions to achieve sustainable growth. He maintains active leadership and membership in several professional and civic organizations, including Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., 100 Black Men of Long Beach (1VP/Director of Operations/Membership Chairman), Inc., Phi Delta Kappa, and the NAACP (Long Beach) Chapter. Dr. Barnett currently educates scholars at Frederick K.C. Price III Christian Schools. Dr. Barnett continues to lead initiatives that strengthen student achievement, academic alignment, and behavioral supports—guided by the principle that obstacles, when approached strategically, become opportunities.
