LANCE ROBERT, JR. GOES TO STATE
Lance Robert Jr. has demonstrated exceptional leadership and academic prowess as the captain of his school’s Academic Decathlon team, recently securing the gold medal in the Los Angeles Division 3 competition. This victory, fueled by his third consecutive year as his team's high scorer, has qualified the 17-year-old standout to advance to the California State Championship in Santa Clara, scheduled for March 19–22, 2026. Lance’s journey toward academic excellence is deeply rooted in his long-term commitment to the 100 Black Men of Long Beach, where he has been a dedicated member of the Growth Mindset Saturday Mentoring Academy since the age of four. His success stands as a testament to both his individual tenacity and the foundational support of his community mentors. The California Academic Decathlon is a rigorous, 10-event scholastic competition that challenges students from diverse academic backgrounds to master a college-level curriculum spanning subjects from art and economics to science and public speaking.
